About Titanium Sponge

TGTV grade Titanium Sponge is used as an alloy addition to steel. It is a purer form of Titanium addition which does not include Aluminium, Vanadium, or other alloying metals. Aluminium is an unwanted addition to acid resistant steel because it can negatively impact subsequent hot mechanical working.

Key Properties of Titanium Sponge

Titanium is highly reactive with Oxygen, Nitrogen, Sulphur, and Carbon, forming insoluble compounds and segregating them into slag.

Uses

Titanium is used for deoxidisation, and sometimes desulphurisation, and denitrification. Addition of Titanium results in metals yields with finer grain structure, which means good cold formability and toughness.
