About Molybdenum Oxide

Roasted Molybdenum concentrate also known as Technical Molybdenum Oxide is produced by roasting Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS₂) concentrate (typical MoS₂ content 85-92%, Sulphur approximately 35-37%) at air temperatures. The resulting roasted Molybdenum concentrate typically contains 57% Molybdenum (min) and 0.1% Sulphur (max).

 

Uses

A significant part of Molybdenum Oxide is used for direct alloying of steel with Molybdenum in an Electric Arc Furnace and converter type furnaces. Technical Molybdenum Oxide are a lower cost and offer a quicker dissolution rate than Ferro Molybdenum. Other applications are for Ferro Molybdenum production and Molybdenum based chemicals and compounds.
